Market shopping in Beijing can be great fun and you can find a variety of items of various quality goods. New modern shops are opening all over the city, selling a wide range of products. There are also fruit and vegetable markets around in Beijing, the quality is fresher and cheaper than the supermarkets. Delis, Butchers and Specialty Shops
Kempi Deli (64653388-5741) is in the Kempinski Hotel. It has a selection of meats, cheeses, breads and sweets and you can stop in both for a sandwich or a mid-afternoon coffee and luscious pastry.

The German Food Center (65919370 /75) is in Maizidian (about 1km west of the Great Wall Sheraton) has an excellent selection of meats and poultry.

Charlotte's Butcher and Delicatessen (65083884) is located at the west gate of Chaoyang Park, features imported meats, fresh bread, cheeses, and a wide assortment of spices and condiments.

Sammies (65068838) is the ever-popular sandwich shop and café with also a catering and delivery service of Italian submarines, sandwiches, and salads. For eat-in, Sammies has a new convenient location adjacent to Silk Alley off of Jianguomenwai.
