Many people working in the academic institutions have studied, lived or worked overseas before. Their English proficiency, in particular in their specific sectors, is quite high. Naturally they have a higher expectation for the interpreters too. It is essential for the interpreters to communicate with them in advance and understand their concerns and wording preferences. The interpreters should also do sufficient research in advance to ensure that their knowledge matches close enough to the speakers to ensure that the interpreter will understand the origional message thoroughly.
